SAMUEL VALENTINE MOCK - RIN 14

Birth: Data from "Descendants of Johannes Mock" by Bernard C. Young.

Also this date is deduced from information on his tombstone in the Pine Wood cemetery, Granby Quebec.

Misc.:

Samuel operated a saw mill and had a little old desk, a "school master's desk". This desk is now (2003) owned by Dorothy L. Carter of Clemson, SC. Orion V. Mock told a story about his grandfather, Samuel. Samuel built a dam on his property. Another man built a sawmill downstream, but when his business was not doing well, he destroyed Samuel's dam. Samuel retaliated shortly afterwards by destroying his neighbor's dam. Sorry, but the outcome of this is unknown!

Census:

In the 1842 census, Township of Granby, p.2515, Samuel V. Mock was listed as a blacksmith with a household of six persons: 1M and 1F under 5 yrs., 1F 5-14 yrs, 1M 14-18 yrs, 1M 21-30 yrs and married, and 1F 14-45 yrs and married.
